Photo Competition CPRE Cornwall 2016

We all know that Cornwall is magical, a place full of myth and legend, of magic and lore. We also know that it’s a true beauty, with breath-taking sandy beaches, cliffs rising from the sea, sheltered bays, wide estuaries, wild moors and rolling hills. At the same time Cornwall’s human history can be seen in the engine houses that dot the countryside and coastline, the churches that were beloved by Sir John Betjeman, the many fishing villages, and colourful cottages.

To celebrate all these things and more, CPRE Cornwall has launched the

‘MAGIC CORNWALL’ photo competition.

We want you to join us in celebrating the beauty and diversity of our county by taking and sharing images of the places and spaces that sum up why you think that CORNWALL IS MAGIC! The entries that we receive will help us to celebrate our beautiful and diverse county as well as creating a visual memory of the places and spaces that make Cornwall what it is today.

Cornwall is celebrated for its coastline and countryside but the county looks set to change dramatically in the next 15 years. Help us to show that a place as magic as Cornwall deserves to be celebrated today and protected for years to come.

We are very lucky to have internationally renowned professional photographer Jo Bradford to judge the competition.

Jo lives and works in Devon now but is no stranger to Cornwall as she lived in St Agnes for over a decade and graduated with a Masters Degree with distinction from Falmouth University. Jo has produced work for many notable clients and is a Getty Images Contributor. You can see her portfolio at Green Island Studios. Jo also practices analogue and alternative photographic printmaking in her colour dark room and exhibits and sells her work to collectors in the UK, USA, Hong Kong, and Europe. See also Jo Bradford

Prizes: Jo has very kindly agreed to donate a prize to the competition in the form of a one-to-one workshop session in Cornwall to show one lucky winner how to take professional shots with the camera on their mobile phone; the session value is £200. Jo’s own work using a mobile phone camera, ‘A Love Letter To Dartmoor’ gained worldwide acclaim, was widely reported on and now has more than 50K social media followers! You can see more here. One runner-up will also receive a £100 voucher.

Entry closes at 5pm on Friday 2nd September 2016.

We want images of the things that makes Cornwall so Magic for you, not just iconic shots of well-known landmarks. So get out there, and happy snapping!
